Character Modeler

Job description:

The Character Modeler works under the supervision of the Production Manager and the CG Supervisor. The artist interprets the 2D model packs and creates a 3D representation that meets the technical requirements and the artistic vision established for the project.

Responsibilities:

• Optimize various assets while respecting the project’s artistic direction;
• Create 3D assets while respecting the Supervisor’s direction;
• Maintain timing and production quotas given by the coordination team;
• Execute the corrections requested by the Supervisor and the Director by showing an analytic mind;
• Organize the workload and prepare presentation elements for approval;
• Communicate and research information if necessary;
• Maintain a good team dynamics;

Qualifications:

• College diploma or equivalent in 2D or 3D computer graphics or visual arts;
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Character Modeler in a film production environment / animation TV series or visual effects;
• Must be capable of creating a model using the appropriate topology and have strong skills with UV mapping;
• Have a strong sense of anatomy, character design, proportions and mechanical functionality of characters, especially facial;
• Knowledge of the animation industry is a plus;
• Bilingual (English and French);
• Experience with MUDBOX and/or ZBRUSH software;
• Must be comfortable using a LINUX/UNIX environment;
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada and available to work in Montreal, Quebec;
• Strong knowledge of MAYA;
• Strong knowledge of PHOTOSHOP;
• Knowledge of an asset manage such as SHOTGUN is a plus;
• Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident in Canada and be available to work in Montreal, Quebec;
