Description

The executive producer has proven experience in the animation / VFX industry and is involved in the development of Squeeze’s strategic vision. He works closely with Business Development and helps build trust with clients. He is responsible for evaluating the financial aspect of the projects and their feasibility. He has a thorough understanding of the animation film workflow and is able to identify risks and establish proper planning. Possessing great leadership, the executive producer must know how to inspire his managers and his entire production team and guide him towards excellence in the realization of the numerous projects in progress and to come.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of Squeeze’s strategic vision;
  • Help achieve the studio’s sales objectives by supporting the business development team in preparing a strategy that identifies the most promising targets;
  • Participate in tenders in partnership with business development and validate agreements produced by business development;
  • Monitor the industry strategically and generate strategic business opportunities;
  • In collaboration with the communication and marketing team, get in touch with partners and potential media to publicize the services of the studio;
  • Identify, participate and represent the studio at events and trade shows;
  • Enrich the customer offer by participating in setting up financial structures and optimizing tax credits in collaboration with the finance department and various stakeholders (lawyers, consultants, banks, etc.);
  • In partnership with the Department of Finance, act as a resource person for foreign producers on tax credits (CI) using external consultants when required;
  • Conclude agreements by coordinating the necessary conditions and negotiating the terms of the contracts
  • Develop budgets and planning of each production and ensure the transition to the producer by communicating specificities, issues, budget, schedule, etc.
  • Supervise existing producers and their teams and ensure that they have all the tools and information to carry out their mandate in an efficient and optimal manner;
  • Analyze the profitability reports provided by the producers, ensure the sound management of the projects and report the results to the finance department;
  • Develop and maintain a relationship of trust with customers, the in-house production team and management;
  • Participate in the recruitment of the internal resources of his team of producers/coordinators;
  • In conjunction with the Production Manager, anticipate and identify potential obstacles to the smooth running of projects and quickly find solutions to address them;

Profile / Requirements

  • Extensive production experience on major projects, mainly in the field of animation film, animation TV series or a related field such as VFX;
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and related professions
  • International network of contacts established in the field;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of various Canadian and Quebec funds as well as international co-production animation agreements;
  • Results oriented: very comfortable with business plans, data analysis, and market analysis;
  • Ability to work on multiple files at once and set priorities;
  • Demonstrates ambition, versatility, creativity, and perseverance and strives for excellence.
  • Ability to work under pressure with calm;
  • Interpersonal skills, easy networking, good persuasion and negotiation skills;
  • Leadership, passion, analytical and synthesis spirit;
  • Mandatory Bilingualism (French / English);
  • Willing to travel internationally

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar function in the field of animation with film experience;
  • University education in a relevant field;
  • Good knowledge of tax credits and international co-production agreements;
