Flight School is a studio of artists and technicians, fearlessly exploring the unknown through film, games, VR, AR, and anything else in the wide and boundless sky. Our research concentrates on the intersection of narrative and emerging technologies. Each of our expeditions charts the outer limits of storytelling, innovation and design. We are based in Dallas, Hollywood and Montréal.

In addition to collaborating with our amazing clients and partners, we are extremely passionate about our own IP. We’ve shipped two VR titles, Manifest 99 and Island Time, and have recently announced our first PC/console game Creature in the Well.

Flight School Studio is looking for a creative and passionate Game Programmer to join our Montréal team, which focuses on small to mid-sized indie games for console and PC. You will work closely with art and design to prototype, implement, and improve any aspect of the game. You’ll be working with a small team in a creative and collaborative environment and should be interested in problem-solving and exploring new visual styles and unique gameplay mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Develop systems for any aspect of the game (gameplay, story, animation, graphics, UI, multiplayer and more)
• Develop techniques and tools for improving efficiency of art and design tasks
• Explore performance technical solutions to creative concepts and ideas
• Help optimize and ship titles on multiple console and PC platforms
• Plan and estimate tasks, strategize with the team about current and upcoming work
• Expand the team’s technical and creative capabilities through experimentation and research

Qualifications

• 5 years of programming experience on shipped titles for console or PC
• Proficiency in C , UE4, and Perforce is essential, experience in C#, Python, Git and Maya is a plus
• Preferred BS in Computer Science or technology related degree
• Ability to function in a dynamic and collaborative environment on a diverse slate of projects
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Self-managed and self-disciplined. Must take initiative in handling above duties and additional tasks which will aid the function of the organization.
