CONFO LAYOUT ARTIST

Mikros Image’s Captain Underpants is looking for conformation layout technicians to join its team in Montreal.
Captain Underpants is an Animated Feature Film directed by David Soren (Turbo, Madly Madagascar) which is based on the best-selling children’s novel series by Dav Pilkey. It is being produced by Dreamworks Animation and animated at Mikros Image Canada in Montreal.

Responsibilities:

Confo Layout/Confo Anim/Confo Render

• Check shot and sequence continuity for the camera, location, assets and props throughout the entire pipeline.
• Track newly delivered assets for the modeling department; update and replace assets as required.
• Problem solve and collaborate with TDs to find speedy solutions to specific technical issues in a shot.
• Prepare Maya scenes for animation, lighting and rendering.
• Correct animation and fx collision/interpenetration issues.
• Complete final set dress adjustments requested by the Art Director.
• Complete final camera adjustments as requested by the Layout Supervisor and Director.

Qualifications and Experience

• Ideal candidates will be detail orientated and show a strong technical understanding of an animation pipeline.
• Confo layout technicians must be self-motivated, prioritize and be able to meet tight deadlines.
• Capable of the independent investigation of technical problems.
• Must be comfortable in a non-creative role.
• Ability to work well with others across many departments.
• Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Maya.
• Knowledge of Shotgun & Katana is a plus.
• Scripting in Python/Mel is also a plus.

Must be a Canadian Resident.
