Job Summary:

The role of the Lead Environment Artist is to interpret the artwork of the project and adapt the modeled assets in to 3D environments. The Lead has to direct, manage, and motivate the Environment/Set team. The Lead has to work closely with Modeling and Layout in order to plan out the Environment.

Responsibilities:

• Set dress on the environment and shot level based upon key artwork, working with the Art Directors / Director to achieve the desired aesthetic for the environment using approved assets.
• Support the Environment/Sets through layout, character animation, and lighting, answering questions and solving problems that occur as each of these groups begin their work on the shots.
• Set dress continuity between shots.
• Create proxy models when needed for look development.

Qualifications:

• Degree/diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years’ production experience in Animated Feature Films, Television, Commercial and/or Video Game Production
• Expert knowledge of Maya is required
• Basic understanding of CG modeling is preferred
• Experience with XGen or other procedural based system is a plus
• Experience with SpeedTree, procedural grooming or attribute based FX is a plus
• Knowledge of python and/or MEL scripting is a plus
