Summary:

The Pipeline Technical Director is responsible for developing tools and maintaining support for the CG production pipeline. You will work face-to-face with artists across all disciplines to offer technical advice and come up with solutions to complex problems. However this role is especially focused on tools and support for the modeling or animation department.

ANIMATION:

The primary tools are Maya, Python, and Linux, but you will be exposed to new tools, processes, and products on a constant basis. Therefore, you will be expected to jump into unknown territory and learn new things.

MODELING:

The primary tools are Maya, Zbrush, Python, and Linux, but you will be exposed to new tools, processes, and products on a constant basis. Therefore, you will be expected to jump into unknown territory and learn new things. The modeling department also utilizes Windows, so some work and support will happen in that environment.

 

Duties:

·         Work with team members and leadership to ensure successful delivery of all shows.

·         Provide face-to-face support to artists and resolve issues in a timely manner.

·         Identify needs and plan tools that contribute to artist efficiency.

·         Develop and maintain scripts, tools and plug-ins.

·         Generate user-friendly documentation and tutorials for tools and procedures.

·         Give tool and workflow demonstrations.

Education and Experience:

·         Excellent problem solving, communication, and team skills.

·         Excellent Python, Maya, and Linux skills.

·         Firm understanding of the CG production pipeline.

·         Knowledge and experience with source code control systems such as Git.

·         At least 3  years relevant professional experience in a production context.

 

Nice to have:

MODELING:

·         A degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics or other related field.

·         Experience withZBrush, Houdini, Mari, Substance, Nuke, or PostgreSQL.

·         Experience with Bash, C++, JavaScript, MEL or Perl.

·         Experience developing in a Windows environment.

ANIMATION

·         A degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics or other related field.

·         Experience with Houdini, Mari, Substance, Nuke, or PostgreSQL.

·         Experience with Bash, C++, JavaScript, MEL or Perl.
