Founded in 2017, Flight School is a studio of artists and technicians, fearlessly exploring the unknown in films, games, VR, AR, and whatever lies in the wide and boundless sky. Collectively, the studio’s creative team boasts top creative accolades, such as Academy, Emmy, Annie, Cannes Lion, and Lumiere Awards. Our previously released titles include Creature in the Well, Island Time VR, and Manifest 99. Our research concentrates on the intersection of narrative and emerging technologies. Each of our expeditions charts the outer limits of storytelling, innovation and design.

Flight School Studio in Montreal is a small team of developers creating unique indie games for console and PC. With teammates in Dallas, we tackle the most exciting creative challenges through collaboration and creativity, supported by the Reel FX Creative Studios family.

We’re looking for a passionate Senior Game Designer to creatively drive a currently in-development console title. You will be the primary vision holder, driving creative and technical development with input from a small team and studio leadership. Our ideal candidate loves narrative-driven games with beautiful visual aesthetics and innovative mechanics. We’re also seeking a candidate that has shipped a title with these qualities within the past two years.


● Oversees and crafts the game’s look, feel, storyline and game mechanics
● Lead and inspire a small but mighty team through all phases of game development
● Interface with key stakeholders in studio leadership, publishing, and production
● Collaborate with our production team to make any high-level decisions about schedule, budget, and scope
● Review and help identify issues and gaps in design, tools, and workflows
● Champion the game, interfacing the gaming community, participating in social media strategy, promotional asset creation and media interviews


● 5 years of relevant work experience related to directing and shipping narrative-driven games
● Experience in leading, managing, and growing a team
● Proven track record balancing of technical and creative skill sets such as programming, writing, visual design, and game mechanic development
● Excellent problem-solving skills
● Highly organized and detail oriented
● Able to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
● Able to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines
● Able to communicate clearly and concisely, building collaborative relationships and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner
● Experience playing many video games in varying genres
