The project :

The Lookdev and Lighting Artist will join the team for the production of the Netflix animated series that awakens the Dead: Army of the Dead, Lost Vegas; directed by Zack Snyder (Justice League, 300, Dawn of the Dead) and Jay Olivia (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns).

Armed with an impressive cast, the animated series traces the story of Scott (Dave Bautista) and his team of mercenaries during the initial fall of Vegas as they face the mysterious source of a zombie outbreak. Action, hemoglobin and suspense are part of their daily life.

Your role:

Under the responsibility of the Supervisor Lighting, the Lookdev and Lighting Artist is in charge of creating and modifying the shaders as well as designing the main lighting of the sets in the Unreal environment.

He will work hand in hand with the Leads of the different departments to ensure the proper development and consistency of the look according to the creative guidelines of the client and production:

  • Work with the Art Director, CG Supervisor and Head of Lighting to establish the final look of the sets;
  • Work in close collaboration with the Character, Environment and Props Team Leads;
  • Set up the stage models for the Lighting Artists in cooperation with the Lighting Lead;
  • Contribute, with the assets and the Head of Lighting, to maintaining the quality of the surfaces generated by the assets department during the final rendering;
  • Test and document, with the approval of the CG Supervisor and the Lighting Lead, the creation of lighting scenes (Renderlayers, AOV, rendering settings, optimization);
  • Work closely with the Compositing Team Lead in order to provide the images necessary for the correct process of the final compositing;
  • Lighting of plans entirely in CG, awaiting the next sets and once the work of LookDev is completed.

 

Your experiences and qualifications:

  • Diploma in a 3D animation program;
  • 5 years minimum experience in LookDev and Lighting Artist positions;
  • Good knowledge of Unreal Engine;
  • Experience in lighting and composing images;
  • Good technique of texture, shaders, RenderLayers, AOV, optimization and lighting for different environments;
  • A solid artistic knowledge of lighting techniques, real time and pre-rendering;
  • Artistic eye;
  • Ability to work in a team and to communicate, orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner;
  • Experience with PBR and HDR lighting;
  • Passion for video games, animation and cinema.

Assets:

  • Experience in creating cinematics for AAA games;
  • Knowledge of scripting / programming languages ​​(python, MEL) is a plus.
