Description du poste :

Sous la supervision du Directeur de production et du Superviseur CG, le superviseur d’animation est responsable de tous les aspects du processus d’animation de la série. Il encadre et oriente l’équipe d’animateurs. En tant que Superviseur d’animation, il apporte et implante son expertise tant sur le plan technique qu’artistique pour obtenir la vision et le style souhaités par le Client, en collaboration avec les autres superviseurs. C’est un spécialiste du mouvement : il travaille à partir de pauses clefs des personnages, élabore la gestuelle, établit les expressions faciales, etc…

 

Responsabilités : 

GESTION :

  • Élaborer, gérer et tenir l’échéancier et les quotas de production en accord avec l’équipe de coordination;
  • Assister et participer activement aux réunions avec les clients;
  • Assigner le travail aux animateurs;
  • Organiser et animer les réunions d’équipes;
  • Tenir informée son équipe des changements et nouveautés relatifs au projet;Participer activement au recrutement des animateurs;
  • Encadrer et former les nouveaux membres de l’équipe d’animation;
  • Faire un retour à chaque artiste sur ses performances;
  • Assister et participer activement aux réunions des superviseurs;
  • Effectuer d’autres tâches connexes assignées par la direction;

 

FABRICATION :

  • Avant et pendant la production: développer le pipeline du département en collaboration avec le Directeur R&D, le Superviseur CG et les Superviseurs d’autres départements;
  • Éditer la documentation nécessaire à l’élaboration du pipeline;
  • Développer et améliorer les procédures et les outils pour faciliter la production;
    • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les autres superviseurs pour assurer une bonne synchronisation entre les départements;
    • Définir le style d’animation voulu, préparer les lignes directrices et les consignes à suivre pour l’équipe;
    • Élaborer et gérer le processus de travail en animation (nomenclature, références, méthodologie, outils, suivi des plans, dailies, etc…);
  • Maintenir à jour la documentation destinée à l’équipe et aux autres superviseurs;
    • Travailler à partir d’un storyboard et/ou d’une animatique pour créer une animation keyframe de qualité;
    • Vérifier l’uniformité du travail réalisé par son équipe;
  • Anticiper, analyser et trouver des solutions aux problèmes artistiques et techniques        potentiels;
  • Agir comme principal interlocuteur pour les échanges entre départements;
  • Se rendre disponible pour répondre aux questions de son équipe et des autres équipes.

 

Compétences exigées :

  • Détenir un diplôme d’études collégiales en infographie 2D et 3D, graphisme ou en arts visuels;
  • Avoir au moins cinq (5) à sept (7) ans d’expérience en animation keyframe;
  • Avoir au moins trois (3) ans d’expérience en tant que Directeur d’animation ou Superviseur d’animation;
  • Avoir une excellente connaissance de Maya;
  • Avoir des connaissances en rigging est un atout;
  • Être à l’aise avec l’environnement Linux / Unix ;
  • Connaitre un asset manager comme Shotgun est un atout;
  • Avoir la capacité de gérer une équipe de travail composée d’une vingtaine de personnes;
  • Être capable de former et de guider les membres de son équipe;
  • Être à l’écoute de son équipe, des autres superviseurs et des coordinateurs;
  • Être citoyen canadien ou avoir le statut de résident permanent au Canada et être disposé à travailler à Montréal, Québec.

Job description :

The Animation Supervisor works under the supervision of the Production Manager and Supervisor CG. S/he is responsible for all aspects of the feature film animation process. S/He supervises and directs the animation team and works in collaboration with the other supervisors. As the Animation Director, s/he brings his/her expertise and implements it both technically and artistically in order to reach the vision and style requested by the Director. S/He is a specialist of the movement: working from characters key poses, developing gestures, defining facial expressions, etc …

                                                                                                                                                   

Responsibilities:

 MANAGEMENT:

  • Develop, manage and maintain timing and production quotas in accordance with the coordination team;
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with clients;
  • Assign, supervise and review the work of the animation team;
  • Organize and conduct team meetings;
  • Inform the team about the changes and news related to the projects;
  • Actively participate in the selection of new artists;
  • Support and facilitate the integration of new employees;
  • Train and supervise the team throughout the production;
  • Give feedback to each artist about their performance;
  • Attend and actively participate to supervisors meetings;
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the company’s management;

 

PRODUCTION:

  • Before and during production, the Animation Director must develop the department’s pipeline in collaboration with the R&D Director, the CG Supervisor and other department Supervisors;
  • Write the necessary documentation about the pipeline’s development;
  • Develop and improve procedures and tools to facilitate production;
    • Work closely with the other supervisors in order to ensure a good synchronization between all departments;
    • Set the desired animation style, prepare guidelines and instructions to be followed by the animation team;
  • Develop and manage the animation work process (nomenclature, references, resources needed, methodologies, tools, schedules, work assignments, etc.);
  • Keep the documentation for the team and others supervisors updated;
  • Work from a storyboard / animatic to create a high quality key frame animation;
  • Check the consistency of the work done by the animation team;
  • Anticipate, analyze and find solutions to potential and actual technical problems;
  • Act as the main spokesperson for exchanges between departments;
  • Be available to answer questions from its team and other teams;

 

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or equivalent in 2D or 3D computer graphics, graphics or visual arts;
  • Minimum 5-7 years key frame animation experience;
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Animation Director;
  • Excellent knowledge of MAYA;
  • Knowledge of rigging is a plus;
  • Be comfortable with a LINUX/UNIX environment;
  • Knowledge of an asset manager as SHOTGUN is a plus;
  • Ability to manage a team;
  • Be able to train and guide a team;
  • Be attentive to his team, other supervisors and coordinators;

 Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident in Canada and be available to work in Montreal, Quebec;
