System and Networks Administrator
BUF Compagnie, French pioneer in special effects for cinema and advertising, is now looking for a System and Networks Administrator for its Montreal facility.
Responsibilities
• Install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot all Infrastructure, including networking, servers, storage, etc.
• Ensure the timely and successful completion of all data imports and backups
• Responsible for the overall health and operations of local network, storage and systems
• Provide technical support to all Users
• Communicate effectively with operations staff surrounding technology issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues through excellent understanding of distributed systems
Technical Knowledge/Skills
• 3-5 years of experience working with IT infrastructure in a media or high performance computing environment,
administering, deploying and supporting various storage technologies and network file systems
• Extensive experience of Linux (Debian) & in a lesser extent MacOsX and Windows (all of our servers (+500) and user
stations (+100) are running Debian)
• Strong command line skills and scripting: knowledge of Perl, shell scripts, Python
• Excellent understanding of technologies: DNS, LDAP, NFS, TCP/IP, VLAN, Firewalling, RAID storage
• Required knowledge on these software: Dovecot, Postfix, Apache, Bind, Openldap, Zabbix, Autofs, Spamassassin, Xen, Postgres
• Basic knowledge of automation: Puppet, continuous integration
• Nice to have knowledge on specific hardware: Fortinet, Brocade/Foundry, IPSec
