Description
Mr. X is looking for a talented VFX Editor who will also act as our I/O Coordinator in our brand new Montreal studio.
VFX Editor duties include the following:
- Provide artists with editorial information such as, cut lengths, re-speed info, etc.
- Update sequences with any changes to the cut from client editorial and communicate these changes to the team
- Assist in setting up shows ensuring editorial formats of the pipeline are in place
- Organize directories and files in a logical and organized manner
- Prepare and create output media as required for the on-time delivery of visual effects in context for both temp and final deliveries
- Maintain database logs as required to efficiently track the status of all work
- Monitor shot continuity, as it relates to the placement and timing of all visual effects shots within the current edit
- Keep cuts updated with latest VFX versions of shots
- Liaise with client cutting rooms
- Implement & monitor effective formats for internal review of team/show material on a daily basis or as required.
- Create and update demo reels representing VFX material for specific needs as assigned by Marketing and Production
- Other duties as required
Input/Output (I/O) duties include the following:
- Responsible for monitoring disk servers, performing backups/restores, and handling incoming/outgoing data transfers
- Maintain data and asset tracking
- Prepare incoming/outgoing data transfers
- Collect files from clients and vendors and prepare deliveries back to them
- Monitor servers and studio queue system; escalates issues as needed
- Troubleshoot and correct failing tasks
- Partner with other production personnel to ensure shots are scheduled and delivered in a timely manner
- Coordinate all client deliveries (outgoing and incoming), both physical deliveries and digital deliveries and maintains log of all deliveries
- Technical QA of all masters and digital files, grade conforms and project archiving
Qualifications:
- Minimum two (2) years of offline editing experience, preferably in a VFX studio setting
- Fully bilingual in French and English (both written and verbal) is required
- College diploma or university degree, or equivalent experience in a similar industry
- Advanced knowledge of Avid and Final Cut Pro
- Other software knowledge in the following: Shotgun, Aspera Connect, RV/FramCycler, Adobe Pro/Reader, MS Office suite, intermediate Excel skills
- Manage multiple projects and work efficiently with tight deadlines in a professional manner
- Exercise independent decision making and creative judgment in the development of projects
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical school certification in film editing or computer graphics, or equivalent work experience. (Experience must be in animation, film or digital effects).
