2D Lead Animator

Under the authority of the Studio Director, you will manage and supervise the 2D animation team, participate in project launches, and produce 2D animations. You will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of the 2D animations for a project, and for making sure that all animations meet the established budget and deadline. Working in close collaboration with the show’s artistic leadership, you will play a part in upholding the project’s animation vision.

• Work closely with 2D animators and artists to create movements, gestures, facial expressions, visual effects, and objects that meet the project’s established direction;
• Guide and supervise other 2D animators, and review their work;
• Make sure that the 2D animations produced by the team meet the project’s established style and standards of quality, and make timely corrections when necessary;
• Oversee the production of the 2D animation for an entire project, namely team performance, animation style, quality and uniformity, as well as any technical constraints, all while taking into account any shift in priorities;
• Troubleshoot creative and technical issues as they arise;
• Mentor less experienced animators and artists by providing support, guidance and instructions in a way that fosters artistic and professional growth;
• Attend team and department meetings;
• Additional duties as required.

• **IMPORTANT** Portfolio and/or demo (required) featuring a variety of styles;
• In-depth knowledge of all aspects of 2D animation; comfortable with a2D/3D hybrid pipeline;
• Advanced knowledge of Flash and/or Harmony;
• Initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to take projects to fruition while supervising a team;
• Experience in traditional art an asset;
• Leadership, ability to mobilize and manage a team.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in 2D animation (TV series, movies, etc.);
• Training in animation, visual arts, multimedia, or any other relevant field.
