About the job

The Lighting Technical Director has a very good knowledge of 3D computer graphics, 3D lighting and image composition. He has, from his experience in VFX or Animation, all the qualities to adapt quickly to different types of projects.

His role is to create and sublimate 3D lighting under the supervision of the Lighting Supervisor and CG Supervisors, but also to work closely with the Lighting Supervisor and the TD team to develop and improve the tools of the lighting department, he is responsible for the maintenance of the internal pipeline of the department and must be able to assist directly to the Lighting Artists.



  • Develop sets up for lighting environments and 3D objects and resolve rendering issues;

  • Deliver renderings and ensure that they meet the high quality standards set by the company;

  • Be able to work with the lighting supervisor to determine the best possible techniques and creative approaches;

  • Create and maintain scripts and tools for the lighting department.

  • Create, test and implement new features

  • Work directly with artists to investigate and resolve urgent issues with custom pipeline tools

  • Assist the TD team in designing solutions (tools and workflow) for pipeline improvements and fixes

  • 6 years of experience in lighting or CG on high-end productions (film / cinematics / television)

  • Excellent knowledge of Maya software

  • Experience using multiple renderers (e.g. Redshift, Renderman, Clarisse, Arnold, etc.)

  • Excellent understanding of light, color palettes, contrast and graphic composition;

  • Basic knowledge of the Python language and scripting skills

  • Subsequent experience in scripting

  • Experience in troubleshooting pipeline issues

  • Knowledge of Unreal is an asset;

  • Good knowledge of French and English, both oral and written;
