Description

Cinesite is seeking a Web Developer to join our team, working across both VFX and Animation. The ideal candidate should be motivated and well-organized, with the desire to work within a fast-paced team of highly-skilled and experienced artists. The role is based in Montreal, with a close working relationship with Cinesite’s London team.

The Role:

  • Design, develop and optimize the production tracking software for both the VFX and Feature Animation divisions.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of the production tracking software web server.
  • Develop and optimize the architecture of the production tracking software to facilitate the connection and synchronization of data sharing between various Cinesite tools/software (Maya, Nuke, RV, etc.) across facilities.
  • Provide technical support to Production for everything related to the Production Tracking Software (links and synchronization with other software).
  • Design and develop custom functionalities (using Python and JavaScript programming languages) in the Production Tracking Software to improve the performance and use of this software within the Cinesite production pipeline.
  • Administration of the Production Tracking Software server (Linux): upgrade the MySQL database, install new versions of the web server and configure the NGINX web server.
  • Debug problems encountered by users.

We’d like to talk to you if you have the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, technology, programming or equivalent.
  • Practical experience with Linux servers and web technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge in Full-stack web development.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Python/JavaScript programming language is essential.
  • Good knowledge of MySQL and SQLALCHEMY.
  • Experience with GIT/bitbucket management systems.
  • Experience with Linux administration.
  • Skills in software design/applying design patterns.
  • Knowledge of Agile Development Methodology (scrum).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience in post-production of visual effects.
  • Knowledge of web frameworks (eg. Pylons, Flask, Django), JavaScript frameworks (EXTJS, ReactJS), RabbitMQ, Supervisor, Jenkins, UML, Ruby on Rails is an asset.
  • Previous knowledge of or experience with FTrack or Shotgun is an asset.
